At least three people, including two Pakistani FC personnel, were killed when the Baloch Liberation Army attacked an FC check post in Burma Hotel area on Sariab Road on Sunday.

According to details two unidentified armed men opened fire on an FC check post of Pakistani security forces in Saryab Road area of Quetta, killing two FC personnel on the spot and injuring another. One of the attackers has also been killed and another injured after when the FC returned firing. The injured attacker, however, escaped from the spot.

The dead and injured were taken to CMH Quetta. The dead were identified as Hawaldar Ghulam Akbar and Sepoy Hazrat Ali.

Meerak Baloch a spokesperson of the Baloch Liberation Army, a Baloch resistance organisation fighting for the independence of Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mr Baloch told NNI, “Our freedom fighters have attacked an FC check post in Saryab Road area of Quetta and in gun battle one of our Sarmachars, Shakoor Baloch, also has been killed.” He vowed that such attacks will continue until the freedom of Balochistan.

Last week the Baloch Liberation Army accepted the responsibility of attacking a Punjab bound train killing at least four people and injuring more than two dozen others.

The BLA issued a statement after the attack saying that the attack was in retaliation of killing of 13 previously enforced-disappeared Baloch by Pakistani army in staged encounters in Mach area and two Baloch political activists in Turbat, Balochistan.

The Baloch resistance organisation had further said that Pakistani army was indiscriminately killing innocent Baloch civilians forcing Baloch freedom fighters to retaliate accordingly, adding that, “We have earlier made it clear that occupying state [Pakistan] unleashed its indiscriminate terror on Baloch intellectuals, teachers, musicians, poets, labourers, nomads, children, elderly, and women. Hence we [Baloch freedom fighters] have no other option but to react accordingly.”
