Suicide attack on Shia pilgrims in Pakistan leaves 22 dead

A suicide attack on Sunday against Shiite pilgrims in Taftan in southwestern Pakistan, on the border with Iran, left 22 dead and several injured. The attack happened when ten buses with pilgrims from Iran crossed the border and parked in front of the hotels where they would spend the night, said Secretary of the Interior of the province of Baluchistan, Akbar Hussain Durrani. He said there were several explosions and gunfire to the border security forces manage to control the situation. At least ten members of armed groups were killed yesterday during an operation in Balochistan the Pakistani Frontier Corps to eliminate armed groups. On Friday an operation against the Pakistani authorities nationalist armed groups in this province has killed at least 30 militants. On the border with Afghanistan and Iran, Baluchistan is the largest and least populated region of Pakistan, the scene of frequent attacks by separatist groups, Islamist militias and criminal networks operating across the Balochistan.
